STORIES ABOUT US

We live in a time of conflict and mistrust, and things get really complicated given our propensity to project our emotional needs and pain onto those with whom we don’t identify and don’t understand. We see others as we are, not as they are.

I’ve always sought out the strange and unknown while others stayed safely at home, which led me to transformative experiences, like the three years I spent immersed in a Japanese living and working environment. For someone like me, born and raised in the southern United States, nothing was more alien. My success required thorough knowledge of myself, good and bad, and how my own experience formed my perception of others.

Genre fiction has always been about exploring the new and the different. It allows the creator to immerse an audience in alien worlds, safe in the knowledge that it’s all fantasy. But behind the magic, these are really stories about us – the way we are today.
